Transportation Planner II

Are you great at problem solving to ensure transportation success? Do you know your geography? The Krusteaz Company is looking for a Transportation Planner II! Transportation at The Krusteaz Company (KCO) moves freight and information between KCO, suppliers, and customers. This position leads Transportation's transactional North American truckload and less-than-truckload processes, including load planning, scheduling, tendering, service exceptions, and freight dispositions. The ideal candidate for this role will be able to coordinate multiple logistical partners and quickly solve transactional problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time.

  • Supervise load planning, scheduling, and tendering within the transportation management system (TMS).
  • Proactively own transportation-managed shipments into and out of assigned facilities and assist customer service event management.
  • Supervise carrier's and broker's capacity and tender acceptance.
  • Lead resolution on operational/tactical exceptions including scheduling, pick-up, and delivery.
  • Validate and negotiate accessorial charges.
  • Communicate and mitigate service challenges as appropriate.
  • Facilitate effective communication between transportation suppliers and KCO stakeholders to enable stakeholder success.
  • Drive transportation and supplier continuous improvement.
  • Own creation and management of process documentation.
  • Assist in monthly supplier meetings and implementing action plans to improve service.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School education or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years in domestic truckload and/or less-than-truckload transportation.
  • Experience working for or with carriers, brokers, and logistics suppliers.
  • Experience with business systems (ERP, TMS, WMS, and EDI) preferred.
  • Documented history of success in transportation that includes load planning, carrier capacity and performance management, rate analysis and negotiation, and claims resolution.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone along with reaching. Specific vision abilities include close vision requirements due to computer work. Moderate noise, ability to work in a confined area, and ability to sit at a computer for an extended period of time are also included.

Hybrid Work Model: At The Krusteaz Company, we have in-office "core days" of Tuesdays and Wednesdays where all corporate employees are expected to be onsite. Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays are flexible remote days to allow for work/life balance. You may be asked to come in outside of a core day from time to time, based on business needs. Wage Information: An employee in this position can expect an hourly wage between $28.14 and $42.21 per hour. We typically pay between $28.14 and $35.17. The actual hourly wage offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including internal equity, experience, education, certification, training, and location. All positions are eligible for additional incentives based on business performance.
