Quality Assurance Technician - Floater

The Krusteaz Company is looking for a Quality Assurance Technician - Floater to join our Effingham team! The Floater must have the ability to work any/all shifts as a function of the role. The Floater may be scheduled to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift to cover other team members on leave. The Floater is multifaceted and able to pivot as needed to ensure optimal productivity with the team and its processes. When there is no gap in coverage, the Quality Assurance Technician - Floater's schedule will be a standard, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. The Quality Assurance team plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of our products. This position involves performing various tests and audits on raw materials, finished goods, and production processes to maintain regulatory compliance and uphold product quality standards.

Essential Functions: Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time.

  • Conduct sensory and analytical tests on dry mix product samples to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Determine product acceptability based on specifications, customer requirements, and food safety considerations.
  • Perform line audits to verify correct packaging, labeling, codes, unit weights, and processing parameters.
  • Analyze raw materials for acceptability and accurately record observations and test results.
  • Utilize company software and database systems for documentation and communication purposes.
  • Exercise troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to resolve quality issues and recommend rework options if necessary.
  • Serve as a resource to the manufacturing team and internal stakeholders.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Food manufacturing experience is desired and a plus.
  • Experience in quality control, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work safely in a physical production environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in math.
  • Demonstrated initiative, self-direction, and problem-solving abilities.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone along with reaching. Specific vision abilities include close vision requirements due to computer work. Moderate noise, ability to work in a confined area, and ability to sit at a computer for an extended period of time are also included.

Wage and Hours Information:

Compensation for this role has been determined based on required experience, education, certification, and training. All positions are eligible for additional incentives based on business performance.

  • $22.08 per hour
  • $1.25 per hour shift differential for 2nd shift
  • $1.75 per hour shift differential for 3rd shift
  • Up to 7% quarterly bonus incentive pay
  • 1st shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • 2nd shift: Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
  • 3rd shift: Sunday - Thursday, 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM
