Food Technician I


The Krusteaz Company is looking for a new Food Technician! This position supports the development and commercialization of new and improved products for the R&D and Sensory team; leveraging skills in ingredients/lab supplies inventory and replenishment, ongoing lab organization and overall lab cleanliness, sample preparation, baking finished product and ingredient testing, analytic testing and data collection.

Essential Functions: Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time.
  • Organize inventory and replenish supply of lab ingredients and materials.
  • Maintain lab and pilot plant organization and cleanliness.
  • Support Scientists in execution of ongoing projects.
  • Operation of pilot plant and lab equipment (scales / blenders / analytical equipment).
  • Basic data entry.
  • Standing, bending and some lifting (up to 50 lbs.).

Technical Capability
  • Understanding and use of standard laboratory equipment and lab practices.
  • Understanding and use of good manufacturing practices (GMPs).
  • Demonstrate basic data entry, organization and record keeping skills.
  • Ability to work with various software applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).

Personal and Social Competence
  • Ability to work in a results-oriented, customer focused, team environment.
  • Basic time management and organization skills.
  • Flexible with the ability to recognize and communicate competing priorities.

Education and/or Experience:
  • High School Diploma / GED Equivalent required.
  • A. or A.S. or experience/training preferred.
  • 0-3 years' work experience; food industry experience preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone along with reaching. Specific vision abilities include close vision requirements due to computer work. Moderate noise, ability to work in a confined area, and ability to sit at a computer for an extended period of time are also included. Ability to effectively communicate and work in a dynamic environment.

Salary Information:
  • An employee in this position can expect a salary range between $47,949 and $71,971. We typically pay between $51,000 and $65,000. The actual salary offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including internal equity, experience, education, certification, training, and location. All positions are eligible for additional incentives based on business performance.
