This position is responsible for leading and developing the Regulatory and Compliance team for effective business and risk management decisions This position leads technical compliance reviews for market and customers to ensure conformance to company requirements, such as product claims, nutrition, and related regulated content as well as communication of information requests for both internal and external customers. Additionally, the position supports identification of regulatory trends, assists to establish company regulatory policy, and develops strategies to proactively lead The Krusteaz Company in regulatory compliance.

  • Lead a team of technical professionals to deliver effective decisions for compliance, accurate reporting to customers, further team's professional development and ensure cross functional support is in place for team effectiveness.
  • Develop effective systems to support business needs, including accurate and complete information for both internal and external customers and in accordance with The Krusteaz Company policies. This includes documentation that substantiates decision and product representations.
  • Develop tools and infrastructure to support the pace of business and continually seek improvement opportunities in the regulatory and technical information space to support The Krusteaz Company capabilities and business opportunities.
  • Serve as focal point for specific project leadership and compliance, converting product technical data into consumer or customer information for the process of labeling technical copy with inputs for packaging and digital content.
  • Conduct technical reviews of existing and potential projects with clear, concise reports for their use.
  • Support The Krusteaz Company international business to ensure compliance; includes coordination of consultants, supporting export documentation and investigation into emerging risks internationally.
  • Work across functions and communicate with functional and operating groups regarding regulatory related and compliance matters.
  • Manage external consultants to leverage cost effective means to support The Krusteaz Company business and develop further internal The Krusteaz Company
  • Partner cross functionally with internal teams to proactively identify and create opportunities for labeling, claims, ingredients, and innovative product claims.
  • Stay current in nutrition and regulatory developments and identify opportunities and implications to the business.

  • Willingness to challenge the status quo and ignite change by actively sharing proven ideas and technologies.
  • Excellent project and time management skills.
  • Deep understanding of FDA regulations. Experience with Canadian, Mexican and EU markets is a plus.
  • Development experience in multiple product categories, dry mix products including baking and/or beverage is a plus.
  • Strong background in ingredient application. Understanding key ingredients, such as flours, leavening, hydrocolloids, and fats is desirable.
  • Experience in product scale up and comfort in a manufacturing environment is critical.
  • Systems thinker; understands the linkage of activities during commercialization and principles of design for manufacturing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to ensure cross functional support is in place for team effectiveness.
  • Leverage external resources (suppliers, co-mans, consultants and service providers).
  • Independent execution of projects, ability to determine next steps.
  • Understanding of common consumer and market research.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications to access information, analyze data and solve problems.
  • Willingness and ability to travel less than 10%.

Education and/or Experience:

  • B.S. or M.S in Food Science or related field.
  • Minimum 8+ years with progressive regulatory experience, specific to food manufacturing.
  • Minimum 2+ years of management experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone along with reaching. Specific vision abilities include close vision requirements due to computer work. Moderate noise, ability to work in a confined area, and ability to sit at a computer for an extended period of time are also included.

Hybrid Work Model: At The Krusteaz Company, we have in-office "core days" of Tuesdays and Wednesdays where all corporate employees are expected to be onsite. Salary Information: An employee in this position can expect a salary range between $100,524 and $165,851. We typically pay out between $113,000 and $144,000. The actual salary offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including internal equity, experience, education, certification, training, and location. All positions are eligible for additional incentives based on business performance.
